Cleric to Muslims: Adhere to Prophet Muhammad’s teachings at Ramadan

Renowned Islamic scholar in Zamfara, Sheik Tukur Sani Jangebe, has enjoined Muslims in the country to adhere to teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to remain in peace and harmony.
The cleric, who said peace is necessary for governments at all levels to impact positively on the people, said the country will be far more developed if not for the setbacks being witnessed as a result of criminal activities of Boko Haram, bandits and herders.
Sheikh Jangebe made the call at the annual Ramadan preaching session at Muslims Foundation Mosque, G.R.A, Gusau, the state capital yesterday.
According to him, the call became imperative, considering that the country is made up of diverse tribes, religions and ethnic nationalities, having different faith, ranging from Islam to Christianity and to traditional beliefs, which he said must be accommodated by all.
He said, if Muslims and other believers could embrace peace in their relationship, the country will develop, socially, politically and economically.
The cleric described the security challenges facing the country, particularly ethno religious crisis, as stemming from lack of understanding of the purpose of God creating humanity with different believes and faith.
He cautioned Muslims in the country to shun any form of uprising that could cause mayhem or lead to killing of innocent people, irrespective of their religious differences, saying it is unlawful to cause the death of human beings innocently.
“Islam is a religion of peace and there is no verse in the Holy Qur’an or even in the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad that teaches immortality and atrocities among Muslims,” he stated.
He appealed to Muslims to use the Ramadan fast to pray for the peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians.
