Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United will now only need to beat Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso in Port Harcourt on October 1 to qualify for the group stage of the competition after they held the host team to a scoreless draw in the first leg.
Sunday night’s game between Rivers United and Etoile Filante was played in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire.
Bendel Insurance are the other Nigerian club in the competition.
They were forced to a 2-2 draw by Morocco’s RS Berkane in a second round first leg in Benin City at the weekend.
The return tie will be played in a fortnight.
