Buhari’s govt not favourable to Fulani pastoralists – APC chieftain

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue state, Barrister Gorus Gololo yesterday said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has no programme for the Fulani pastoralists in the country.

He stressed that the federal government has not been favourable to them, compared to the past administrations that engaged the Fulanis.

Gololo made this known on Sunday in a telephone interview with journalist.

He said Fulani pastoralists have suffered a lot of hatred and rejection in the country by other ethnic groups and the government has watched without any action.

According to him, his latest observation was about the killing of the chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder Association of Nigeria, (MACBAN), Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini and others, saying that the federal government did not condole with the Fulanis, rather they preffered to condole with the Yorubas over the death of an Afenifere leader.

“I’m supprised that Buhari government did not sympathise with us over the death of our leader, they should note that all the Fulani pastoralist cooperated to vote for him, but all we have to get is for the government to treat us like a foreigner in our land.”

The APC chieftain said henceforth, the pastoralists would unite and come out with a memorandum of understanding for politicians seeking their mandate.

According to Gololo, before they can cast their votes for candidate, the person must agree to implement their programmes and give them assurance that they can live peacefully in any part of the states.

“Anybody that want to seek for our vote henceforth should come out plainly and let us know how he or she is going to engage us for the betterment of Nigeria. The killings and rejection of our people have to stop because we are peace loving people,” Gololo stressed.
