Breaking: PDP slams suspension on prominent politician

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbadibo Local Government Area (LGA) has suspended the former chairman of the council, David Abah Umoro, from the party.

The disciplinary committee, through the Chairman of PDP, Ogbadibo LGA disclosed the decision in a statement on Monday.

According to the letter, the former chairman of the council was suspended for anti-party activities and other offences.

The letter read: “Orokam Ward 1 PDP suspends Hon. David Abah Umoro for Anti-Party activities in his Council Ward. This development came up after the review of the 2023 General Elections, his role on the day of National Assembly & Presidential Elections 2023.

“David Abah Umoro ceased the Local Government Party agent tags on 25 February 2023 and equally refused to release the money meant for party agents in his Council Ward, this development has aided other political parties like APC and Labour Party to win some polling units.

“Secondly, since his election as Executive Chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government Council, he has never for once conveyed a party meeting or pay the annual subscription to the party as provided under section 8 sub-section 9 of the PDP Constitution.

“Thirdly, it is on record that the said David Abah Umoro was invited thrice and failed to comply to the directives of the party, even when he promised to be present in a meeting held on the 2nd February, 2024. After several invitations, he deliberately refused to honour the invitation of the Ward Disciplinary Committee.

“In view of the above and many other silence offences which has affected our great party, PDP. The Disciplinary Committee of the Ward expressed their dissatisfaction on the general conduct of Ex-Council Chairman.

“All Excos including the stakeholders of the ward passed a vote of no confidence on him (David Abah Umoro) and he remains suspended from the party indefinitely.

“Attached are signatories of the Disciplinary Committees members and Stakeholders of Orokam Ward 1 PDP.”
