Breaking: Again, terrorists strike, kill 7, kidnap many in Zamfara, governor away for election

No fewer than seven civilians have been killed and many kidnapped by a group of armed terrorists in Gada village of Bungudu local government area of Zamfara state.

Resident of the area in a telephone interview with Blueprint reporter said the bandits attacked the community at around 6pm on Saturday.

“The bandits stormed our village riding motorcycles in large numbers carrying heavy weapons and began shooting sporadically on people and we lost seven people as many were kidnapped during the attack,” he said.

Blueprint correspondent reports that the attack is coming a day after the incumbent governor left the state to Imo state to lead People’s Democratic Party (PDP) team for the governorship election.

He also appealed to the federal government to come to rescue Zamfara people from the activities of terrorists.

“I am calling on the federal government to deploy more security personnel to Zamfara state to address the lingering insecurity due to activities of terrorists,” he said.

However, efforts to reach the state police command spokesperson Asp Yazeed Abubakar by Blueprint correspondent proved abortive as at the time of compiling the report.
