Bamidele wants Muslims to pray against terrorism, religious war

Hon.-Michael-Opeyemi-BamideChairman, Committee on Legislative Budget and Research in the House of Representatives, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has urged the Muslim faithful across the nation to pray against terrorism as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitri.

In a statement by his Media Aide, Ahmed Salami, Bamidele commended Muslims for believing in peaceful co-existence with their Christian brothers despite the threat being posed by Boko Haram insurgents, “particularly to our religious associations.”
Bamidele advised that all Nigerians, regardless of religious association would have to rally support for President Goodluck Jonathan at “this critical time when our sovereignty is being threatened.”

The Labour Party (LP) chieftain maintained that the maiming and killing of innocent citizens had created the impression across the globe that there was religious disharmony in the country, adding that it would take collective efforts to be able to “correct this anomaly by not submitting to extremism, even at gunpoint.”
He appealed to Muslim leaders to continue to preach the gospel of unity for the country to remain indivisible and strong among the comity of nations.
He advised Muslims to replicate the sacrifice they went through during the Ramadan period in their daily lives to “draw them nearer to Allah for Nigeria to have a better society.”
