Chief Imam tasks parents, youths on moral values, prays for peace

Chief of Imam of Jos, Plateau state, Sheikh Zakariyya Balarabe Dawud, has urged parents and youths to always exhibit true Islamic values.
This was the content of his sermons at the post two rakkat prayer that marked the Eid-el-fitir at the Jos central prayer ground.
Dawud said: “It is paramount upon every parent to inculcate on his child good moral values, the values of Islam and adherence to its doctrine.
“I am admonishing you all to ensure that our children are giving the best of education and sound moral values.”
The Imam also admonished the youths to always be peaceful, accord respects and obedience to their parents as well as elders in their midst, “so that you will have the peace and mercy of Allah.”

“As youths that are guided by the teachings of Islam, you must shun all forms of vices; you should not take arms against one another. You should also perform the celebration of the festive period in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).”
Dawud said it was important for every Muslim to continue with the good lessons of forgiveness, alms giving, love for one another and intense prayers as was done in the last period of the fasting, for the peaceful existence of Nigeria.

“The country is in great calamities; the spate of bombings which have befallen it and have claiming lives and property, most particularly here in the Northern part.
“We pray Allah to bring to its end for us, to continue to enjoy the peace and development of the nation.”
