Anambra 2021: APGA okays Soludo, 3 others, disqualify 5 guber aspirants


The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Monday cleared the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, and three others to contest the party’s Anambra state 2021 primary.
Others qualified to contest the APGA primary poll holding at Awka, on June 16 are Damian Okolo, ThankGod Ibe, and Hon. Ezenwankwo Okwudili, a member currently representing Orumba North and Orumba South Federal House of Representatives.


According to a list of the governorship screening panel signed by Mr Ifeanyi Mbaeri, the APGA National Organising Secretary, contestants disqualified from the poll were Hon Chuma Umeoji, currently representing Aguata Federal constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.


Others were Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, a former presidential aid to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan; Hon. Cater Dike Umeh, state House of Assembly member for Aguata 1; Hon Nonso Smart Okafor, House of Assembly member for Nnewi North; and one Ozoka Odera Ifeanyi.
Some of the offences that led to disqualification of the five aspirants as listed in the release were defiance and insubordination to the party leadership, alteration of forms, inability to reach 2/3 of nominators spread across 21 LGAs in Anambra, and others.
