Against all odds: Boko Haram victims narrate how they met and fell love in IDP Dalori camp

The tears and sorrow caused by Boko Haram menace wasn’t enough to keep this couple from falling in love.
BBC Africa’s Jimeh Saleh while interviewing IDPs in the Dalori camp, Borno state met a couple who had met in camp, fell in love and got married.
35-yr-old Modu Bulama and his new wife were married before but had lost their families in Boko Haram attack.

“Some religious leaders advised me not to worry too much about what happened to me, they also advised me to remarry.
I took their advice and said I will marry as soon as I can afford to,” Bulama told BBC.

The couple met when Bulama was distributing relief material in camp. His wife had lost her husband while he lost his wife and two children.
“Eventually I met her. I was able to save up, I gave her a bride price and we got married,” he continued.
“By God’s grace I was able to give her N10000”, he told BBC’s Saleh how much he paid while refusing to reveal the name of his wife.
When the reporter asked if she tried to play hard to get, the couple laughed hard and Bulama replied,
“No she didn’t play hard to get, she didn’t”, he said.
