Terrorists kill 2, abduct 3, raze community in Sokoto

Terrorists on Friday killed two people and abducted three women in Dabbar Dikko village of Illela Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto state.

The LGA sole administrator, Alhaji Sahabi Wakili, confirmed the development on Saturday.

An eye witness said the terrorists also razed the town, burnt locally made Silones where the villagers use to keep their foodstuffs.

He said properties worth millions of naira were lost and inhabitants are living in palpable fear.

Alhaji Wakili explained that this was the second time the bandits were attacking the village.

He noted that many innocent lives were lost during the attacks and unspecified number of people are still under the bandits’ custody.

He accused one Kachalla Bube who he said was the prime suspect attacking Hausa community in the area.

Wakili commended the Sokoto state government and security operatives for their untiring effort in containing security challenges in the area.

Meanwhile, the aggrieved communities in Illela LGA and its environ sharing borders with Niger Republic have expressed sadness over the behaviours of some civil right organisations operating in the area, accusing them of indifference when it comes to issues of bandits’ attack.

The communities though did not name any organisation but were irked that these civil societies always remain silent whenever the terrorist attacked some communities, but if a community defend itself, they will raise its voice in the name of human rights.
