Adamawa flags off child health social protection scheme

Wife of Adamawa state governor, Hajiya Maryam Jibrilla Bindow, has officially  flagged-off the state Maternal Newborn and Child Health Social  Protection Scheme supported by European Union and UNICEF.
Flagging-off the programme at a ceremony in Malabu village of Fufore local government area, Maryam,  urged mothers, who are the major beneficiaries and health workers involved in the scheme to accord the life-saving intervention full support for maximum benefit.
“This event represents a giant stride in our collective efforts towards checkmating all health challenges affecting mothers and their newborn babies.
“It is in this regard that I see this intervention by European Union and UNICEF through collaboration with the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, as not only timely, but worthy of commendation,” Maryam said.
She reiterated the commitment of the state government under the administration of her husband, to support and guarantee healthcare services to people of the state, particularly to women and children.
“Let me reiterate here that, Adamawa state under the leadership of my dear husband, Distinguished Senator Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla Bindow, has been at the vanguard of efforts towards transforming the social and psychological lives of people of the state for the better,” she said.
The representative of European Union, Mr. Anthony Ejeke and that of UNICEF, Dr Abdulai Kaikai, who assured of sustained partnership in health, water and sanitation programmes in the state, lauded the commitment of Adamawa government to the scheme and other programmes of the international organisations.
The chairman of Fufore local government, Alhaji Aliyu Boya, who listed benefits of the programme to the community, assured his council’s maximum support and cooperation for the success of the programme in the area.
Some of the women beneficiaries of the scheme lauded the programme which they said would impact positively on their access healthcare services.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of delivery kits and transport money to some pregnant women, who registered for the scheme by the wife of the governor.
