2023: Security, justice, environment top VOA Hausa/ Uni Jos, governorship townhall meeting

The issue of security, justice, inclusive governance and environment tops the Plateau State Governorship town hall discussion, held at the University of Jos, Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium.

The event organised by the University of Jos, in collaboration with the Voice of America Hausa Service, have in attendance: Mr Solomon Chendan, ADC,

Mr Nentawe Yilwatda, APC, Samuel Kpak, APGA, Mr. Calib Mutfwang, PDP, Mr. Luka Panpe, PRP, and Eng. Po yah Ibrahim, SDP, as governorship candidates, respectively.

The vice chancellour, University of Jos, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, advised the Governorship candidates, to listen to their constituents, as well as their political opponents, having become winner of the March, election.

“Listen to your constituenrts, including people at the grassroot. Listen to your political opponents. They see things from a different perspective than you do and should not be ignored.

“Make an effort to be fair with everyone,” he said.

Prof. Ishaya said Nigeria’s democracy cannot be better than the people who lead it.

“If we have weak leaders, we will have a weak socket. Our electorate cannot make wise choices without opportunities to hear directly from and interact with the candidates,” he said.

Prof. Ishaya said it is hoped that the platform provided by the VOA will make the people well informed about the various governorship candidates on the Plateau.

The event featured signing of peace pact by all the candidates, present at the town hall meeting.
