Deputy President of the Senate and Chairman, Senate Committee on Constitution Review, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has described the failed litigation seeking to disqualify him on account of allegedly being an ex-convict in the United States as a mere distraction ahead of the 2023 general elections .
He stated this in Abuja Sunday at his Asokoro residence while having in audience , kings, elders and religious leaders from Urhobo Kingdom who paid him a solidarity visit.
He said, “the failed attempt to remove him as deputy president of the senate and as senator, may not be unconnected with the 2023 political intrigues”.
Some faceless political foes he added, were hell-bent on distracting the National Assembly leadership from the path of cooperation with the executive arm of government to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
He said: “I am not a politician who can be intimidated by anybody. For those enemies at home, they know me very well, but I am sure that those who participated, they did so with cover from others outside of the state who really did not know me well.”
part of the fundamentals of the destructive calamities that befell the structures of this country long ago realised the sanctity of communal existence and are saying they can no longer accommodate a nation without direction, is it a crime too reprehensible to forgive? It is a clear signal and a wakeup call for the President Buhari’s led government to as a matter of urgency, create an avenue for workable agenda for our country.
