2023: Akwa Ibom deputy gov tasks PDP chieftains on unity

The Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, has urged the the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) elders to work as a team and avoid factions as the 2023 election was approaching.

Ekpo said this when the Abak Local Government PDP Ward Elders Chairmen Forum paid him a courtesy call in his office in Uyo on Thursday, said that one of the critical imperatives of leadership is unity of purpose.

He urged them to always work as a team to galvanise the needed gains to bring back the glory of the party as 2023 approaches.

“As the 2023 elections inch closer, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been challenged to work as a team and eschew fictionalisation if the party’s hope to return to the centre is to be realised,” Ekpo said.

He commended Abak PDP Elders for standing solidly behind Gov. Udom Emmanuel’s administration, and for resolving to continue to support his effort to ensure indigenes secure a stable future.

The deputy governor commended the party elders for working assiduously to bring back members of the party who had earlier defected from the PDP.

He urged the party leaders to work as a united front and not as a fragmented group in order to achieve the desired integration and inclusiveness within the larger party structure.

Earlier, the Leader of the Group, Mr Ikemesit Ayara, said the meeting afforded the forum the opportunity to appreciate the developmental strides of the governor and his efforts in fostering unity in the state.

Ayara thanked the governor for the completion of the Ikot Oku Ikono junction fly-over which is the vital connecting point to Abak, and other parts of the state.
