Zamfara emir decries water, electricity shortage

Governor Abdul-Aziz YariEmir of Zamfaran Anka and Chairman, Zamfara state Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Attahiru Mohammad Ahmad, has decried acute water shortage being faced in the famous town of Anka.
Speaking while receiving Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari who paid him a Sallah visit, Ahmad said the perennial water shortage had been source of concern to the inhabitants of the town.

He said Anka as the only headquarters of a defunct Kingdom of one of the Hausa States of pre-colonial time that “has no portable drinking water and is not connect to the national grid.”
He further revealed that the emirate council spent N1 million in purchasing diesel for the palace generators on a monthly basis to access potable drinking water for the people of the emirate use had been a big challenge.

The emir, however, lauded the construction of roads network within the emirate.
The monarch called for the total renovation of the General Hospital, Anka, “to give more befitting structures that will enable it accommodate patients from within and outside the emirate.”
Responding, Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari solicited for more support of the traditional rulers over the current insecurity challenges facing the state.
