Zamfara: APC reports PDP to Oshiomhole as Yari blasts Shinkafi

Former governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari, Tuesday led the party’s state chapter to report alleged intimidation by his state government against members of the APC.

The former governor also faulted the claim by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the 2019 Zamafara state governorship election, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi that he was threatening the fragile peace in the state.

Shinkafi had in a petition to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Yari on the issue.

Shinkafi, in the letter to the IGP also copied the Chief Of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Chief Of Naval Staff, the Director-General Department of State Services (DGSS) and the National Security Adviser, stated that if Yari is not brought to book soon he would set Zamfara State ablaze and rubbish all the peace efforts of the Governor Bello Matawalle-led government.

But Yari who spoke to newsmen after a closed door with Adams Oshiomhole at the national Secretariat of the All progressive congress (APC) described the allegation as baseless and politically motivated.

Describing Shinkafi as a failed politician who cannot muster even a councillor seat in the state, he threatened to institute court action against him to substantiate his claim.

Yari said it was tantamount to an act of irresponsibility that those entrusted with the governance of the state would go out of their ways to leak classified documents on security of the state in a bid to score political goals.

The former governor recalled how he put in place measures aimed at addressing the security challenges in Zamfara state when he was at the helm insist that issues relating to the control of security agencies in the country falls within the control of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In his address to the national chairman, Zamfara state chairman of APC, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, accused the PDP led-government of using Police severally to disrupt their meetings in the state.

Liman said: “the National Chairman is hereby invited to kindly intervene in order to compliment the untiring efforts of His Excellency, Hon, (Dr) Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara), the APC Leader in Zamfara state in keeping the party strong and united with view to boosting the morale of its teaming members, supporters and well-wishers so that it will continue to be party to beat in the state.”
