You acted late against Boko Haram, PDM tells Jonathan

The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of waiting for three years before moving decisively against the deadly Boko Haram Islamic sect.
National  Chairman of the party,  Alhaji Bashir Yusuf  Ibrahim, who blamed  the outgoing  President  for the  escalation of the  activities of the  sect in the North -east part of the country,  said  Jonathan,  initially slept over the issue by “misreading the insurgency as a religious war, rather than fallout of lack of good governance,  poor leadership, misinterpretation of the teaching of Islam and poverty in the region as the main factors responsible for the crisis.”
Bashir, while speaking on the outcome of the 2015 general elections at the weekend in Abuja, noted that Boko Haram insurgency was not based on religion, and neither was same directed at frustrating  anybody’s political ambition, but  rather, essentially a socio-economic problem that was tainted with religion.
“Initially, President Jonathan’s understanding of the sects’ phenomenon emanates from the wrong perception and wrong imputation that actually plunged the country into where it is today.
“The worst situation is that it even took Jonathan more than three years to appreciate and understand that Boko Haram  is a terrible mix of lack of education, misinterpretation of what Islam and the Quran teaches and stands for,” he stated.
He said every aspect of the nation’s national life today is riddled and engulfed with corruption, while the military has been politicised with just few Nigerians, who stood out and has vehemently refused to succumb to the illegality that the Jonathan administration accepted and embraced.
