YCD thumbs up Badaru on ICT, partners NITDA on summit

The Youth Coalition for Development (YCD) has hailed Governor Mohammed Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa state for promoting information and technology education as well as creating opportunities for youth engagement since assumption of office.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Monday, national president of YCD, Comrade Aminu Aminu said since the inauguration of the governor in 2015, “he has continued to pursue his desire to take information technology education to the youth, which has reduced poverty level and created opportunities for youth engagement.

Comrade Aminu disclosed that the Jigawa state government, Youth Coalition for Development and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in a partnership, would be organising an ICT innovation summit in the state as part of efforts to enhance the development of ICT.

“The Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy under which NITDA is organising this programme with us has made quantum economic value to the development of Nigeria.

“Today, 17% of our National Gross Domestic products were made possible through the proactive leadership demonstrated by the ministry.

“The National Identification Number (NIN) can now be completed with ease nationwide; digitalised economy remains the best option capable of placing the youth in vantage position to benefit from multiple global opportunities,” he said, advising other ministries to emulate the minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Sheikh Ali Ibrahim Isa Pantami.
