Good music means different things to different people. There is no consensus among music lovers as to what constitutes good music because perception and emotion are different from people to people. But for Nigerian Afrobeat singer,Idris Olabamiji Bashir, known musically as 7Star Dris based in Warsaw, Poland, the substance of good music is in the message.
“I categorize good music by the message, well-composed, situation and the credibility of the artist. Good music also depends on the mood of the listener. But a clear and relatable lyric with a well defined, mixed beat will always sounds good to anyone,” he said.
7Star is very much happy with Nigerian dominance of music in Africa. He admits Africa has come of age given their presence on the world stage and particularly happier that international stars from all over the world are dying to work with Nigerian stars. However, he was affirmative in his assessment of the African music industries.
“No contest. Music industry in Nigeria is like an African identity now to the world. I also think Nigerian music is excellent, because we can deliver on any beat and language,” he declared.
7Star Dris mentioned Davido, 2Baba and Tiwa Savage as some of his best musical artists out of Nigeria, saying he loves each for a different reason but holds out that King Sunny Ade, Olamide and nice remain his best.
“I love Davido because of the recognition he has garnered for himself in global music. Then there is Tuface because of the good lyrics and his long-standing consistence. Tiwa Savage comes into the picture for me because of her angelic voice. Her energy is amazing and electrifying. In fact Nigerian is massive right now but King Sunny Ade remains my best Nigerian artist of all times. He is a legend that brought our local language and sounds to the world stage for the first time and has continued to do so to this day. There are 9ice and Olamide because of their indigenous lyrics,” he stated.
“Yes, because if we sing more with our mother’s language and translate it well for the world to know how rich and educative the message we are passing ism it will go a long way in enrich the quality of our output. Definitely most of my crafts are influenced by words, stories from fan , friends and family,” he added.
7Star Dris is also the CEO of RG Global Consult, a company that sells musical instrument and also into property development.
He is also into show promotions and organisation, which had seen him taken Jawon, Wande Coal and football personality like Lawal Rahim to Europe
7Star Dris made his musical debut with a party jam single in 2013 titled “Flex” produced by him. His second effort which truly established his arrival as an artist of serious intent was another party banger “Jaiye” released in 2014. Tstar Dris followed up with two other singles “Cool Jam” and “Baller” released in 2015 and 2019n respectively.
