We’re ready for stakeholders’ support on basic education – Kano SUBEB




The Executive Chairman of the  Kano State Universal Basic Education Board,  Mallam Yusif Kabir, has reiterated the board’s resolution to work with relevant stakeholders willing to support the basic education system in the state. 

A statement issued on Sunday by the board’s Director of Social Mobilisation, Balarabe Danlami Jazuli,  quoted Kabir speaking when he received the UNICEF team led by its education specialist, Mallam Muntaka Muhammed during a courtesy call in Kano.

The chairman said one top agenda of the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusif is education development which has been one of the core missions and vision of UNICEF intervention to ensure access and equity to all children of School age.

He re-emphasised that working with UNICEF is mandatory because of its long-time bond and consistency in its project development mandate with Kano State and Nigeria at large. 

 The chairman while responding on areas of intervention, expressed concern about the need for UNICEF to consider special programmes on girl education, issues of out of school children, and integration of Qua’anic and Islamiyya schools.


Earlier, the Education Specialist, Muttaka Muhammad, had said they were at the chairman’s office to congratulate him on his appointment and to brief him on the arrangement to conduct this year’s Education Day celebration coming up on Wednesday, January 24.

He added that the celebration is geared towards showcasing achievement in the education sector in the state and also to discuss challenges and ways forward.

‘We want you to participate actively in this year’s celebration and for you to tell the world what you have achieved so far while also pointing out key challenges for collective responsibility,’’ he added.

Edo: APC NWC has no power to determine mode of primary – Lukman

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate-past National Vice Chairman (North-west), Salihu Moh Lukman, has said the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has no power to determine the mode of primary election as has done Edo state.

The party had settled for direct primary and ruled out zoning of the governorship seat in Edo state.
