We’ll soon get out of current economic quagmire, Bishop Adegbite assures Nigerians

The Executive Secretary Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite has assured that Nigeria would soon get out of its current harsh economic situation facing it.

The NCPC boss made this disclosure, Wednesday, during a courtesy visit to the Hon. Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji – Ojo  in Garki Abuja.

A press statement issued by the Deputy Director/Head, Media and Public Relations

of the Commission, Mr Celestine Toruka, quoted the minister as saying, “We understand what our nation is passing through, we are not alone, it is a global recession, and we will get out of this quagmire.”

The NCPC boss urged Nigerians to “use this period of lent to offer prayers for our nation.”

He reiterated that there is a global recession and that most nations are passing through tough times and appealed to well meaning Nigerians and the Church to impact positively on the people as a way of mitigating the harsh economic realities in the country.

Bishop Adegbite also noted that the Commission and the Ministry of Interior have had robust relationship over the years, explains why the ministry has a representative on the board of NCPC; hence his visit was to strengthen the synergy between them.

He made a case for special passport for the NCPC board members, stating that the ministry through the Nigeria Immigration Service oversees the issuance of passports to Nigerians.

“We are going to work with your ministry in synergy and project the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President,” he assured.

In his remarks, the minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, congratulated the NCPC boss for his well deserved appointment.

She assured the NCPC boss that the minister was favourably disposed to synergise with the Commission for better pilgrimage to the holy land, saying: “We will continue to work with you to ensure you deliver on your mandate.”
