Water minister charges staff on dedication to duty

Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu has charged staff of the Ministry to be hardworking and dedicated to duty.

Suleiman while speaking recently in Abuja at the commemoration of the 2022 Civil Service Day noted that public service is the most potent and viable instrument available for the formulation and implementation of government policies and program and as such, they should be hardworking and avail themselves the opportunity the service provides for greater service delivery.

Meanwhile, Suleiman maintained that the implementation of Performance Management System (PMS) which is a mechanism for tracking the performance of employees consistently and measurably at work place will also enhance a result-oriented culture and boost performance and productivity level of civil servants.

“This will raise standard of achievements to new heights, increase their moral, motivation and engagement at achieving efficiency in the service”.

He further said that PMS allows the establishment to ensure that employees and departments across the organization are working effectively towards achieving organizational goals.

“I am to state here that Staff of my Ministry have been undergoing training on PMS at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria PSIN) and recently , we conducted a retreat in Lagos on PMS for which all Directors as well as MD’s, DG’s of Agencies under the supervision of my Ministry were in attendance and it was very rewarding.”

While advising his staff to key into the system, he stated that a lot of positive changes are expected from them such as un-learning old habits and learning new ones, as activities will no longer be business as usual.

“it is my advice that with everyone of us constituting a part of this ministry, your positive contributions will lead to results and achievements that will definitely leave an indelible mark in e added.
