Union seeks loans for members

The chairman, Union of Tippers and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQEN), Gwagwalada branch, Comrade Yabagi Abubakar, has urged the minister of the FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, to provide loan facilities for their members.

He stated this recently in Gwagwalada during the maiden launch of the union’s almanac, saying the lack of funds had been the union’s main challenge.

Abubakar said the union had over 5, 000 registered  self-employed members ranging from labourers, drivers and suppliers who were contributing their quota to promoting economic activities in Gwagwalada and environs.

He urged the chairman of the council, Mustapha Adamu Denzel, to build a befitting office accommodation for members, saying the lack of water supply and toilet facilities was their major problem.

In their separate remarks, the secretary of the union, Comrade Abubakar Alfa, and the treasurer, Alhaji Murtala Muntari, called on  the government at all levels to assist  the union, saying “the aims and objectives  of  UTQEN are to reduce  unemployment and youth restiveness.”
