Kano varsity raises probe panel on fire incident

Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST) Wudil has inaugurated a probe panel on the cause of the recent fire incident that destroyed 500-bed capacity Dangote female hostel on February 5, this year.

The deputy head of information, publications and public relations unit, Malam Abdullahi Datti-Abdullahi, stated this in a recent statement in Kano.

He said the committee was charged to find out the immediate and remote causes of the incident and recommend ways of forestalling future occurrence.

Speaking, the chairman of the committee and a one-time commissioner for works and housing, Engr Ibrahim Khaleel, gave the assurance that the committee would do its best in carrying out the assignment.

Earlier, the vice-chancellor, Prof Shehu Alhaji Musa, said the members of the committee were “carefully selected and based on their expertise and professionalism in their respective fields of endeavour.”

The committee has two weeks to submit its report.
