There can’t be development without peace – Ajiola

A United Nations (UN) Eminent Peace Ambassador, Dr Larry Akintola Ajiola, has stated the need for peaceful coexistence among all nations of the world.

He noted that there can be no meaningful development in the absence of peace.

Ambassador Ajiola stated this in an interview with Blueprint in Port Harcourt ahead of the proposed one-day programme of the lnternational Association of World Peace Advocates.

He said the programme is scheduled to hold on April 26, 2023 and will be organised in conjunction with l Contact Connect Communications and 360 Degrees Connexx Resources.

He added that the programme is aimed at integrating and socialising with other peace ambassadors in other organisations across Rivers state, Nigeria and the world.

He charged Peace Ambassadors to always practice peace adding that it is not enough for them to acquire certificate and hang it in their offices or homes.

He said: “lt’s not enough for you to have peace ambassadors certificate and hang it in your offices or homes.”

Shedding more light on the programme, he said the special dignitaries from UNESCO, UN, and ILO will be in attendance.

He added that other professional bodies including student community and traditional rulers are also invited.

To grace the occasion as the special guest of honour is the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, among other dignitaries.

Dr. Ajiola said the occasion will also be used to induct new members, adding that there will be paper presentations on safety and health to be delivered by the Rivers state Ministry of Health as well as Ministry of Environment.

He enjoined all to attend, saying that peace is priceless and it engenders development and progress of any nation.

“Peace is priceless, because where there is peace, development thrives and people will be in good health.

“Peace is all and all, there is nothing you can do without peace. It is only where there is peace that you can have progress and development.

“It is important to emphasise that conflict does not pay, but peace produces everything required for the growth of the nation,” he said.
