Tell Nigerian story to avoid foreign distortion, Mohammed tells media

The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Saturday tasked the Nigerian broadcast media to take the lead in telling the Nigerian story.

Alhaji Mohammed gave the task in Oko town, Surulere local government area of Oyo state, while speaking at the commissioning of a new FRCN station, Ogo Ilu, 89.3FM.

The minister said  this became necessary to guard against distortion of facts about happenings in Nigeria by a section of the foreign media.

In doing this, the minister stated the need for the broadcast media in Nigeria to focus majorly on various projects of the Nigeria government and the impact of the projects on Nigerians.

“Please permit me to use the occasion of this commissioning to challenge broadcast media in Nigeria to take the lead in telling the Nigerian story, especially by informing the people about the various projects of government and their impact on the people”, he said

Mohammed urged the people of Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere federal constituency and its environs to take ownership of the radio station, guard it jealously and ensure its viability.
