TCN admits poor power transmission, blames development on gas constraints

The Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Thursday, attributed the decrease in power transmission to gas constraints experienced by thermal generating companies.

Blueprint recalls that the power generating companies otherwise known as Gencos are generating power either through hydro or thermal.

TCN in a statement issued by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said it was working with relevant stakeholders in the power sector to keep the grid intact despite the current low power generated into the system. “The Transmission Company of Nigeria TCN hereby announces that there has been a gradual decrease in available generation into the grid due to gas constraints to the thermal generating companies, which has impacted the quantum of bulk power available on the transmission grid for onward transmission to the distribution load centers nationwide.”Please bear with us as we continue to work with stakeholders in the value chain to ensure supply through distribution companies to electricity consumers nationwide,” she said.
