Taraba govt, World Bank seek monarch’s support to end out-of-school- menace

Taraba state government and the World Bank Thursday sought the support of the Aku Uka of Wukari, Dr Shekarau Angyu, to tackle  out of school children menace in the state.

The Permanent Secretary, Taraba state Ministry of Education, Mr Samson Ada, made the appeal during  a courtesy call on the monarch in Wukari.

Ada said that the state ministry of education with support from World Bank was determined to ensure that school-age children had access to quality education in the state.

The Permanent Secretary  solicited the Aku Uka’s support to ensure that school age children got enrolled in schools so as to secure their future and guarantee a peaceful society.

“We are here to appeal to you to use your office as chairman, Taraba Council of Chiefs,  to assist in sensitising the people to the  dangers of increasing incidence of out-of-school children.

“The World Bank has earmarked funds to support each child that is brought back to school in Taraba with the intention to mop up all out-of-school children in the state.

The Aku Uka thanked the delegation for the initiative and pledged the support of the traditional council to ensure its success in the state.
