Tantita Security, an antidote to nation’s oil theft – CSOs

The performance of Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited on the protection and security of the nation’s pipelines in recent time has been commended by a coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs).

Rising from their monthly general meeting after an assessment of the situation in the Niger-Delta region over the weekend, the CSOs praised Tantita Security Network for a job well done, especially in keeping the peace in the region.

Recalling the renewal of the pipelines surveillance contract awarded to Tantita by the government, the CSOs reassured that it was a confirmation of the good job done and the confidence reposed in the security outfit to protect and nip in the bud steps taken by vandals to disrupt the free flow of the nation crude oil and arrest the continuous vandalisation of the nation pipelines for selfish interest.

Speaking at the sidelines after the meeting, one of the CSOs represented by the National Coordinator of Restore Nigeria Integrity Initiatives (RNII), Comrade Victor Itsede, applauded the achievements recorded so far in the oil sector since Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited was given the job of securing the nation’s pipelines, leading to increase in crude oil production and revenue generation to the government, with the crude oil at the international market hitting almost USD$100 per barrel, in the face of Israel-Hamas war.

“The discovery of several illegal pipelines in the creeks and the destruction of vessels at sea on a voyage, ferrying illegal crude oil out of the shores of Nigeria by the combined forces of Nigerian Security Forces occasioned by intelligence gathering and sharing by Tantita Security, is not only commendable but the right steps in the right direction,” Comrade Itsede affirmed.

The groups however frowned at orchestrated plans by ex- militant leaders to sponsor protests with a view to forcing the government to split the contract awarded to Tantita Security Services.

Rather, the organisation urged all militants interested in protecting and securing the nation’s pipelines for the good of the nation to liaise with Tantita Security Services Ltd and work as a team with the ultimate goal of service delivery to the nation.

It called on the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), as a private limited liability company to immediately, derive benefits from Tantita enhanced security network put in place to streamline its operations, increase production, generate income and maximize profits for the growth and development of the nation.
