Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kogi state chapter, Aloysius Okino, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the introduction of the SURE-P programme which he said had brought relief to the people of the country.

Okino, who gave the commendation yesterday in Lokoja during the recognition award organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for the best performing council chairmen in Kogi state on the execution of SURE-P projects, noted that the SURE-P programme of the federal government “has helped the local councils in the provision of critical infrastructure to the people at the grassroots.”

The state ALGON boss called on the national SURE-P to come to the aid of the state by urgently re- constructing some federal roads in the state, particularly the Itobe- Ajaokuta- Okene road which he noted had totally collapsed and exposing travellers to persistence robbery attacks and road accidents.
The council chairman said the free hand given to them by the Governor Idris Wada was responsible for the huge successes recorded by SURE-P in the state.
