All Progressives Congress (APC) has described last Friday’s Supreme Court judgments affirming the elections of Governors Uba Sani of Kaduna state and Nasir Idris of Kebbi state as triumph for peace, unity and development of the two states.
Congratulating the Governors on their Court victories, the APC National Vice Chairman, North-west, Hon. Garba Ahmed, in a statement signed by APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North-west), Malam Musa Mailafiya Mada, said the Supreme Court rulings marked the end of a long legal battle that had gripped the states for months.
“The APC North-west under Hon. Garba Datti Ahned congratulates the Kaduna state Governor, Sen. Uba Sani and that of Kebbi state, Comrade Nasir Idris over their victory at the Supreme Court on Friday, against appeals by PDP candidates in their respective states.
“The Supreme Court decision upheld the election of Uba Sani as Governor of Kaduna state by affirming the 24 November 2023 judgement of the Court of Appeal on the case. In the same vein, the Apex Court also held that it found no reason to set aside the verdicts of the Court of Appeal and the Kebbi state Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal therefore, affirming the election of Kebbi state Governor, Nasir Idris, after dismissing the appeal filed by Aminu Bande of the PDP.
“The National Vice Chairman North-west Hon. Garba Datti Ahmed opined that by affirming Sen. Uba Sani and Nasir Idris as the duly elected Governors of Kaduna and Kebbi states respectively and dismissing the issues brought by appellants, the ruling is a triumph for the wish of the good people of both Kaduna and Kebbi states, who freely handed their mandate to our party’s flag bearers for peace, unity and sustainable development to permeate.
“It behoves on me to urge you to place partisan politics on the shelf and extend a hand of fellowship to the opposition to partner with you to make your states greater. The task ahead is daunting and you have to be focused on delivering your campaign promises,” Garba Datti led zonal executive officers equally commend the resoluteness and tenacity of the judiciary for their unwavering commitment to always remain on the side of justice.
