Subsidy: Lawmaker distributes food to vulnerable in Zaria

In his bid to smile on faces of vulnerable and less privileged families in his Constituency, a member representing Sabo Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna state, Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, has distributed trailer load of food items to poor families to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on petroleum

Flagging off the distribution of the items in Sabon Gari on Friday, the lawmaker said the gesture was his personnel effort to alleviate people’s sufferings.

He said, “this palliative is not from constituency project allocation or any official source, it is from my personnel effort.

“In fact some of my friends and associates contributed in providing the items, just to alleviate the hardship faced by my constituents and Nigerians at large.”

The legislator therefore said the items were evenly distributed to people irrespective of political affiliation, tribe or faith.

Abdullahi noted that, during the first 100 days in office, a medical outreach has also been conducted all in a bid to enhance social wellbeing of the citizens.

He assured his commitment to legislate laws that will cushion the hardship and reduce poverty among Nigerians.

Earlier, the chairman PDP stakeholders, Hon Bashir Ibrahim Sakadadi while applauding the gesture, urged other political office holders to initiate means of assisting Nigerians to ameliorate their untold hardship.

He enjoined all wealthy individuals not to rely on government palliative programme but contribute their quota to save the deliberate hardship people common man in particular were subjected to occasioned by petroleum subsidy removal.
