Stop war mongering, FG urges Nigerians

Mr-Mike-OmeriThe federal government has called on Nigerians to stop war mongering aimed at heating up the already tense situation in the polity.
National Coordinator National Information Centre (NIC), Mr Mike Omeri, made the appeal while briefing journalists, yesterday, at the centre.
Omeri expressed concern over statements “being dished out by various organisations, groups and some individuals that tend to further worsen the security situation in the country.
He said: “We appeal to people to be patient with the government that is doing everything possible to protect all citizens across the nation.”

Omeri assured that federal government has deployed troops to Sanga LGA of Kaduna state, where unknown gunmen attacked and killed over 30 over the weekend.
“The military has already deployed its officers and men to the area to restore normalcy and prevent further attacks, just as efforts are on to get the perpetrators of the heinous acts, with a view to bringing them to justice.”

He added that the federal government was working with relevant sources, including leaders of Kautikeri, Kwada and Birnjuzu communities, all of which came under attack, to reach the actual casualty figure.
Meanwhile, government has given insight into the widely held perception that the insurgents were better equipped than Nigerian military and security agents.
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr. Frank Mba, speaking during the briefing, said the military were regulated by rules of engagement.
