The Director-General of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Mr Osita Aboloma has attributed lack of support by laboratories to provide scientific basis for product conformity to living standard of consumers and access to quality and safe products.
At a one-day Sensitization workshop on SON Laboratory Services in conjunction with NOZAMA enterprises, an NGO on Thursday in Abuja, Aboloma who lamented this assured the quality management of raw materials, products service and inspections process by SON laboratory services.
The DG said SON laboratories are the power houses that drive inputs from manufacturers, consumer organizations and research institutions.
He said the organization was set to provide quality infrastructure that would drive economic development in Nigeria.
According to him, SON laboratory has achieved accreditation and certification for specialised test and analysis to drive products to standard quality.
In his words “SON is ensuring that products are manufactured with right laboratory services to reduce risks to consumers, manufacturers and the economy”.
Also, the Director-General, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Kadir commended the organization for taken a step in the right direction to better service delivery in Nigeria
Mr Segun who represented by the liaison officer of MAN Dirisu Ibrahim said one cannot talk about standard of manufacturers without talking about standard laboratories.
