Simon to miss rest of season after collision with Mali goalkeeper

Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon will miss the rest of the campaign after sustaining an injury in Nigeria’s 2-0 friendly defeat to Mali on Tuesday night.

Simon was stretchered off the pitch around the half hour mark after colliding with the Malian goalkeeper.

The winger was rushed to the hospital following the incident.

His Ligue 1 club, Nantes have now confirmed the player will not play again this season.

“Moses Simon was injured yesterday against Mali. Our Nigerian striker suffers from a broken fibula which means the end of the season,” the club said in a statement.

“FC Nantes is already keen to provide its full support to its attacker and wishes him a speedy recovery.”

The 28-year-old could also miss Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin in June.
