Shun unethical behaviours, poly rector warns students

The rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Temitope Alake, has warned the newly matriculated students of the institution to do away with cybercrime, prostitution, cultism and others, to enable them achieve their goals in life.

The rector gave the warning weekend during the matriculation ceremony of National Diploma(ND) numbering 2,000 and Higher National Diploma(HND) 1,900 students for 2023/2024 Academic Session of the Polytechnic.

Dr. Alake  said he understood that many “teens” believe that higher institution is a place where they enjoy a lot of freedom and make friends, but sometimes that freedom often comes with consequences.

“The Federal Polytechnic, Ado, has “zero-tolerance for all anti-social and unethical behaviours such as examination misconduct, prostitution, cultism, sexual harassment, hooliganism, gangsterism, corruption, yahoo or whatever it is called as social vices.”

The rector told the new entrants that the institution laid emphasis on modest and decent dressing saying, “It is pertinent for you to show respect to your colleagues, staff of the polytechnic and all the dwellers for a fruitful and productive stay on this campus.

“I urge you to take your studies with all seriousness in order to achieve your goals by becoming successful in your respective fields of specialisation. Let the under-listed points be your guiding principles and adhere strictly to them as they will help you towards achieving your academic goals,” he said.
