Shi’ite: We’ve lost 6 members in Zaria Ashura procession – Sheikh Bello 

No fewer than 6 members of the Islam Movement in Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shi’ite have been feared dead as a result of gunshot fired by security operatives aimed at dispatching them during a procession in commemoration of the death of Iman Hussain, termed Ashura Day in Zaria city, Kaduna state.   

Blueprint correspondent reports that the victims died as a result of gunshot wounds inflicted by security agents who arrived the scene of the procession to enforce the ban on the organisation by government.

In a telephone interview with Blueprint, the representative of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of the Shi’ite, Sheikh Abdulhami Bello said so far, six of his members have been killed while at least 50 of gthem sustained varying degrees of injury and were receiving medical attention in health facilities.

He accused the security operatives of “sporadic shooting at innocent citizens, including Shi’ite members”.
