Shi’ite ban: OPSH urges members to cooperate

Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major-General Rogers Nicholas, has appealed to members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Shia group to adhere to the Plateau State order banning their activities in the State.
Nicholas, in a brief chat with Blueprint at his office at the weekend, said the Operation Safe Haven was disturbed by the “unhealthy happenings of last week in Jos.”
According to him, the OPHS is working hard to ensure that the hard earned peace which the state is enjoying is not tempered off with.
“I am appealing to members of the Shia to adhere to the order by the state government, of which we are very much ready to enforce,” he said.
He said the OPHS would conduct its duty with best professional approach.
Plateau state government had in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Rufus Bature, banned all activities of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) in the state with immediate effect.
The statement said the action was to maintain peace and security as well as ensuring that lives and property of citizens were protected.
It cautioned that any member of the group caught disobeying the order would be apprehended and prosecuted by the relevant law enforcement agencies, urging all law-abiding citizens to go about their lawful activities.
