Senate Presidency: ‘Why Governors, others should rally support for Akpabio/Barau ticket’

A support group on the aiges of Team Godswill Obot Akpabio (GOA) has appealed to all governors; outgoing or incoming, to rally support of the their Senators-elect for Akpabio/Barau ticket.

In a statement signed Wednesday in Abuja by the national coordinator of the group, Hon Michael Agbor, and the Secretary, Engr. Orusoso Donpedro, said Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Jubrin Barau as Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively will foster development, progress, stability and unity of the country in the next dispensation. 

While describing the ticket as a national project, the statement also appealed to all elected senators, devoid of party affiliation to cast their votes for the joint ticket of Akpabio and Barau. 

“We the members of Team Godswill Obot Akpabio (GOA) after due consultation with our constituents across the six geopolitical zones of the country unanimously resolved and agreed to endorsed His Excellency, Distinguished Sen. (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio CON and Distinguished Sen. Jibril I. Barau for the 10th Senate leadership, 2023.

“In line with their antecedents and track records, we are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that they will have a good working relationship with the Executive and the Judicial Arm of Government. To keep the record straight, Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio is a team player, a nationalist, honest, purposeful, unifier, uncommon transformer and a true Nigerian patriot of South South extraction. The above attributes also goes for Sen. Jibrin I. Barau. 

“This group humbly appeal to all elected senators, devoid of party affiliation to cast their votes for the joint ticket of Akpabio and Barau. 

“In the 10th Senate leadership that will be led by Sen. Akpabio and Sen. Barau will foster development, progress, stability and unity of the country in the next dispensation. 

“Finally, the group uses this medium to appeal to our governors in the 36 states of the the federation to support this national agenda.”
