Sen. Fadeyi’s empowerment agenda in Osun central

Dividend of democracy is one of the main intakes of democratisation process and expectation of the masses towards political leaders. Unfortunately, lack of competence and betrayal of trust from those entrusted with responsibilities to create such dividends makes it often unrealistic.

In Osun state, and in line with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign promises and policies, which Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, representing Osun central senatorial district, also aligned with since he assumed office in this 10th National Assembly, has been a remarkable progress for youth participation and empowerment.

This step of progress based on his demonstrated capacity and initiatives in the constituency and which has drawn a length of applause from the public.

The senator has been engaging youth and women into various political duties and empowerment, rehabilitation of drainage, drilling of boreholes, installations of solar power systems while aiming to lace his constituent with more transformative projects and programmes.

In Nigeria’s politics today, there are members of the National Assembly who had spent decades in representing their people yet fell short of any of developmental contributions.

This is due to corruption, lack of political will and commitment and it is unfortunate that most of these legislators were living fat at the expense of government and to the detriment of the people they represented. Most of them are either bench warmers or seconders of motions in the red or green chamber. But this is not the case with Senator Fadeyi.

As a first term senator and as Vice Chairman of Senate Committee on Communications and Digital Economy and also a member of other committees, he has demonstrated within this short time in the red chamber a commitment to quality leadership and development.

It’s also interesting to note that, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi is a democrat and a true blessing to the people of Osun central senatorial district even as some political leaders were seen as a curse not a blessing.

He has carved for himself a niche of selfless representative in governance as evidenced in his human empowerment and capacity building programmes.

By this approach and engagement, the youths and women in the constituency are testifying to his plans and activities, while both adults and elders are appreciating of his support, so far.

Senator Fadeyi not only aims to deliver dividends of democracy but also to be different from others in laying a long profound foundation in the constituency for the benefit of his people in various schemes and skills acquisitions.

However, this is just the beginning of the success story of a senator who in less than 100 days in office has won the accolades of quality representation as a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

To this end, there’s no need to say anything more now than to be watching and wishing him successful parliamentary years ahead.
