Second quarter North West sports stakeholders meeting begins

In view of its mandate of rigorous development of sports at the grassroots, the Federal Ministry Of Youth and Sports Development
North West Zone has concluded arrangements to host the second quarter stakeholders meeting.

A statement signed by the zonal sports co-ordinator, Idris Abdullahi, dated June 6, informed that the meeting is scheduled to hold from June 7 to 9 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

“I am delighted to inform you and the General Public that, necessary arrangements have been concluded by the North-West Zonal Sports Office of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development with Headquarters at Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna for the conduct of the above programme which details seen thus:- Ahmadu Bello Stadium Media Centre, Kaduna 8th June, 2021 by 09:30am,” it said.

Idris explained that the general aims and objectives of the meeting amongst others are; appraisal of the maiden edition of National Principal Cup at states, zonal and national level.

“Apraisal of North-West states participation at the just concluded 20th National Sports Festival tagged “EDO-2020”

“Update reports on sports, facilities and related activities at states levels.

“Review of 3rd and 4th quarter calendar of sports and related activities at zonal levels,” it informed.

According to the statement, it would also serve as an avenue for deliberations on the forth-coming intra-zonal U-17 Volleyball
Championship scheduled for the last week of June, 2021.

“Preparations for North-West states participation at the 6th edition of
National Youth Games (NYG) zonal teams sports eliminations and the tournament proper

“Hosting of proposed sports and related activities within the zone.

“Sponsorship drive for zonal sports and related activities for 3rd and 4th quarter of the year-2021,” it added.

The zonal coordinator stressed that the meeting would also serve as an avenue for sensitisation and awareness briefs on health services and capacity building programme by MARKANA- Sports and Empire Nigeria Consultants most especially as the programme is National Institute of Sports (NIS) accredited and compliant.

He further said that as part of activities of the stakeholders, they will carry out an inspection of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Youth Development Volleyball Temporary Court constructed by Engineer Musa Nimrod, Chairman Caretaker Committee, Nigerian Volleyball Federation (NVBF).

“The meeting is powered by Alhahi Babangida Hussain, Chairman Jigawa State Weightlifting Association and supported by Surajo Yusuf, Board Member Zamfara State Basketball Association,” it concluded.
