School resumption: Group distributes free packs to Ilorin households

Following federal government phased approval for resumption of activities at various sectors, a group known as Serve Africa Foundation, in collaboration with Bolaji Lawal Group (BLG) has embarked on door to door distribution of free school welcome packs to some identified less privileged persons in Kwara communities in the north central state of Nigeria.

The distribution exercise which covered 12 Wards in Ilorin West local government area of Kwara state, was carried out between Friday, September 4 and Sunday September 13 , 2020; namely Banni, Ogidi, Ajikobi, Ojue-Ekun, Sarumi, Ubandawaki, Oloje, Adewole, Pakata, Adeta, Alanamu.

In his message to the flag -off of the intervention programme at Banni Community Secondary School, Ilorin, founder of the group, Hon Bolaji Lawal said the essence of the programme was cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on parents who might have to struggle to raise school fees in a difficult period like this.

“As we are gradually winning the war against COVID-19 and schools in Kwara prepare to re-open, Hon Bolaji Lawal organised a school welcome pack intervention programme for students and parents.

“Several thousands of writing materials will be distributed between Friday September 4, 2020.

“The free donation is to help parents prepare the children for school.

“Due to Covid-19, the campaign is taken from door to door, even on the streets of Ilorin. The project was managed by Serve Africa Foundation and Bolaji-Lawal Liberation group (BLG), both organisations founded by Hon. Bolaji Lawal,” he said.

Blueprint recalled that Lawal had also during COVID-19 lockdown  launched the third phase of business support programmes where 35 beneficiaries received cash support of N5, 000 each to bust their small scale businesses.
