Russia’s anti-doping agency appeals against 4-year ban

Russia’s anti-doping agency RUSADA on Thursday appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against a four-year ban from major sports events.
Russia was on Dec. 9 banned as a nation by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) over tampering of Moscow anti-doping laboratory data.

The ban is for a period which includes the 2020 Olympics, 2022 Winter Games and 2022 football World Cup.

The sanction means Russia cannot use its national flag and anthem at major sports events or bid for major events.
However, Russian athletes will be allowed to compete as neutrals if they have not violated anti-doping rules.
