By Agboola Bayo Ibadan

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Coordinator in Oyo state, Hon Muraina Ajibola yesterday warned members of the party in the state to steer clear of rumour mongering. Ajibola gave the warning in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on the purported plans by some elements within the party to petition PDP headquarters against his alleged appointment of PDP Coordinators for local governments across the state.

Th e PDP coordinator declared that the alleged plot to petition the party’s National Secretariat was part of the moves by enemies of PDP to scuttle the on- going reconciliation eff orts in Oyo PDP. “ I have also been inundated with calls informing me that some persons are planning to package tissues of lies to petition our party headquarters on my appointment. Th e PDP as a party has moved to the next level.

Th e days of blackmail, rumour mongering and backsliding are gone for good” he said. According to Ajibola, there was never a time he contemplated such a move to appoint Coordinators for the local governments as such was not in the mandate given to him by the PDP headquarters. “Th ere is an unsubstantiated rumour going on that I have appointed coordinators for PDP in local governments in the state.

Th is is far from the truth. I have no mandate to do such. I am very well focused on my mandate which is to ensure sincere and genuine reconciliation among our party members in the state and on this we are making tremendous progress”.

He stressed that as far as he was concerned his major focus was to actualize genuine reconciliation within the ranks of the aggrieved PDP members and leaders in and across Oyo state., saying, PDP has taken “note of the damaging role of rumour mongering, blackmail in causing downfall in the recent past and these wonderful current leaders will not allow such things to destroy our party again”. Ajibola urged PDP members in the state “to rise up to work for the party and give us support to receive all former leaders and teeming supporters and even new members to the party”. “ It is time for us all to rise up to work for the party so that we can have a strong platform that will be diffi cult for other parties to beat in 2019 rather than engaging in rumour mongering, petition writing and other vices. Th e cooperation of all of us as members of PDP family is key
