Group trains 39 health care personnel in Gombe

In order to strengthen the Primary health care service delivery, the Save the Children International is to train 39 key players in the health sector in Gombe state on Change Management and the importance of Primary Health Care Under one Roof. Save Th e Children Field Manager, Altine Lawi, disclosed this while speaking Blueprint shortly after the opening of fi ve-day training on Change Management and Primary Health Care Under one Roof at Bafra International Hotel in Kaduna yesterday.

She said the organisation seeing its necessary to train the key players in the health sector and stakeholders, adding that the participant were directors from Gombe state Primary Health Care Development Agency, commissioners from the Ministry of Health, Local Government, Finance and Justice, chairmen, House committees, health and appropriations, MNCH Coalition and health reporters from diff erent media. “Th is training is meant to strengthen service delivery at the PHC level.

Th is is to consolidate the state performance in the recent score card 3 assessment where the state performed creditably well having scored 59% in the overall performance covering most of the thematic areas as released by the National Primary Health Care development Agency. “Under the National Health Act, every state will need a single primary health care board whose job is to oversee and ensure the implementation of the state approach to primary health care, which give each state right to decide how its primary health care board will operate.” Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Kennedy Ishaya, commended the Save the Children for the support give to the state on health sector
