Rotary Club donates furniture to Lagos school

The Rotary Club of Ikeja has donated some classroom furniture to Ikeja Senior High School in Lagos as part of its corporate social responsibility for the month of November.
President of the Club, Ikeja district, Rotarian Olaitan Ojuroye, in her address said the need to provide 50 sets of furniture was borne out of passion to give back to the society, which Rotary Club is known for and to meet the pressing needs of the school as presented by the school management.
According to Ojuroye, the initiative became necessary to enhance educational development in the district and the state as a whole.

She, further, stated that the club would continue to invest in the educational sector as a key area it had given priority to in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Lagos state, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mr Sina Odeyemi, expressed gratitude to the Club for the donation which he said would compliment government’s effort at enhancing effective teaching and learning processes in the state.
The Permanent Secretary said: “I believe the collaboration of the private sector will enable the state meet its educational objectives as I want all stakeholders to also know that the education sector worth the investment to secure the future of our children”.
He urged the students to put the furniture into good use and also learn from Rotary Club the act of giving back to the society even as some of them were inaugurated as young Rotarian in Secondary schools.
Principal of the school, represented by his vice, Mr. Kola Odesanmi, thanked Rotary Club for the good gesture, while admonishing the young Rotatrians  (Interacts) to start imbibing the culture of serving humanity which Rotary Club represents.
