On August 25, 2022, we erroneously published a story on our Online Platform with the headline “EFCC petitioned over alleged N3.4bn fraud against fleeing Lebanese” which without any known proof accused Mr. Antoine Chaccour of being fraudulent, up till January 2023 when our management’s attention was drawn to it.
We have since discovered that the said story against Mr. Chaccaour was not true and we hereby tender an unreserved apology to him.
We also wish to state that the said story had since been removed from our platform early in the year 2023. And in addition to this, we retract the story and dissociate Mr. Chaccour from any such allegation as published on our platform.
Once again, accept our sincere apology.
We also implore the public to disregard the earlier story as Mr. Chaccour has through his lawyer distanced him from such allegation after which was never proven against him.
Moreso, Mr. Chaccour’s lawyer has also established that the said case is part of a closed file at the EFCC after the Commission neither invited his client nor charged him before any court.
