Resolve farmers, herders’ disputes, allow police fight crimes, PCRC tasks members 

 

The national chairman Police Community Relations Committee (CPCRC), Alhaji Magaji Ibrahim, Wednesday, has charged members of the committee across the country to assist the Nigeria  Police Force in resolving the farmers, herders’ crisis for them to have more time in fighting crimes.

He said the issue of kidnapping, banditry and other forms of crimes being perpetrated in recent time were enough for the operatives of the force to deal with, saying cases that ordinarily should be resolved at the community level should not be added to the enormous tasks before the police.

Ibrahim spoke in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, while inaugurating the newly elected executives of the PCRC Kwara state chapter. 

The national chairman urged the new executives and members of the committee to encourage alternative dispute resolution mechanism to assist the police in resolving disputes to avert break down of law and order. 

He expressed delight in the composition of the new executives which comprises of 6 retired permanent secretaries including the state secretary of the Kwara state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), comrade Omotayo Ayanda urging them to make the committee proud. 

The PCRC national chairman said as season administrators with experieinces in various disciplines, the new executive led by Alhaji Adebayo Lawal who was re-elected for second term should deliver. 

Ibrahim said prevailing security challenges in the country requires the cooperation of all stakeholders with the police and synergy among sister security agencies to curb crimes. 

While urging the public to give police credible information that would assist them in fighting crimes, Ibrahim said “gone were the days when you say when you give police information they would divulge your identity.”
