Rep urges protection for Tiv in Nasarawa

A member representing Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Architect Mohammed Jafaru-Ibrahim, has appealed to the Nasarwa State government and security outfits to put in more efforts to secure lives and properties of Tiv people in Nasarawa.
Jafaru-Ibrahim, who urged for permanent resolution of the differences between farmers and herdsmen in the state, made the appeal when he paid a condolence visit members of the Tiv community in Lafia yesterday over the death of the Ter Tiv, Chief Patrick Nguppe. He also described the death of the Ter Tiv as a huge loss, setback to efforts in finding lasting solutions to insecurity challenges bedevilling some parts of the state. Jafaru-Ibrahim, who was represented by Alhaji Mustapha Galadima, Secretary of the Contact and Mobilization Committee of the Mohammed Jafaru-Ibrahim Campaign Group, said the late of the Tiv leader will be missed due to his efforts at helping in resolving the crisis between farmers and herdsmen in some parts of the state.
Jafaru-Ibrahim who described Nguppe as a man of peace said the late Ter Tiv played a pivotal role calming down tensions between Tiv farmers and herdsmen in the state through diplomacy, inter tribal, security and peace meetings. Responding, Engr. Moses Utondu, Special Adviser to Governor Umaru Al-Makura on Public Works and Chairman, Central Planning Committee for the burial of the late Ter Tiv expressed gratitude for the condolence and food items and prayed to God to continue to bless the lawmaker.
