Bala hails ADB’s support for Bauchi special agro-processing zone

The Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, weekend applauded the African Development Bank for financing the execution and implementation of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) in Bauchi.

Speaking when he received officials of the bank on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Bauchi, Governor Bala described the project as a welcome development to the state as it will address challenges in areas of implementation.

The governor said his administration, since coming on board, has been working with the African Development Bank and other global organisations and it has done so much in the utilisation of the opportunities.

He told the visitors that his administration has developed an agricultural policy and therefore it will do everything possible to ensure effective implementation of the project in the state for the benefit of the citizens.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Water and Sanitation Consultant for the African Development Bank, Ibrahim Bashir Gaya, told Governor Bala that the team members are in Bauchi to assess the readiness of the state government towards participating in the second phase of the project.

He stated that the bank is working with governments and the private sector in 11 African countries to create Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) that will turn the rural landscape into economic zones and ensure prosperity, harnessing the power of commercial agriculture and food production.
